Who should be a business student?
Success in business requires the ability to adapt to a changing landscape. The business program seeks students who possess the intellectual curiosity, initiative and discipline to apply the lessons learned in the classroom to achieve success in business and in their communities as ethical leaders.
What will you study?
McMurry business majors will earn either a Bachelor of Science in accounting or a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting, computer information systems, finance, general business, management or marketing. In addition to classes in their concentration, students must complete all courses in the business core.
Why business at McMurry?
McMurry’s small class sizes and opportunities for hands-on learning are unequaled at large universities. Our low 13:1 student-faculty ratio means you’ll never be an anonymous face in the classroom. Instead, your business professors will become your mentors, providing personal attention and guidance throughout all four years.
Our business program is flexible and structured around your needs. Can’t decide on a concentration, or want more than one? Your professors will work with you to make it happen.
Internships are available for all business students. These experiences are valuable opportunities to make connections in the business world and gain real-world experience while simultaneously receiving course credit.
During their junior or senior year, McMurry business students travel to London to make site visits to locations such as the Houses of Parliament, British Airways, Lloyd’s, Swiss Re and Whole Foods Market. There they meet with company representatives and discuss issues related to international marketing and management.
A highlight of McMurry’s business program is the Student Managed Investment Fund. Upon invitation, students with a finance concentration can obtain first-hand money management experience by managing a real portfolio of domestic equities valued at more than $1 million.
Students interested in learning from and networking with successful businesspeople are invited to join the Shareholders Business Club, which brings multiple guests to campus every year.
